- Retinoscopy: A retinoscopy examination is used to test the ability of your eyes to focus and can be an indicator of how long-sighted or short-sighted you are. The test involves 2 lights, a red and a green, with lenses placed in front of your eye to calculate your vision.
- Ophthalmoscope: This test is used to assess your eye’s optic nerve and blood vessels to ensure they are healthy. A specialist torch is used to examine your retina at the back of your eye.
- Slit Lamp Test: A slit lamp test is used to examine the front surfaces of your eyes. The slit lamp is a microscope used by the optician to check for any abnormalities or scratches on your cornea, iris, and lens.
- Visual Field Check: This test is able to identify early signs of glaucoma or other issues that could be associated with headaches, for example. The test works by assessing your ability to detect flashes of light in your peripheral vision.
