We supply and fit a full range of contact
lenses
*
Being independent, we are not tied to any particular lens
manufacturer, so can fit what is best for you and what suits
your lifestyle
*
Disposable or frequent-replacement lenses that are designed
to be replaced Daily, Fortnightly, Monthly, depending on your
requirements, your prescription and their intended
usage
*
Toric lenses to correct astigmatism - these are now
available in various disposable formats, and can now accurately
correct almost any amount of
astigmatism
*
Silicone Hydrogel lenses - perfect if your current lenses
tend to dry out through the day or do not allow enough
oxygen through to the
eye
*
Multifocal lenses if you require bifocal or varifocal
glasses
*
Tinted lenses, such as the new Acuvue Define, to enhance and
accentuate the eye's natural colour
*
We can also supply and fit gas-permeable or non-disposable
soft lenses if required
* Healthier - you replace the lens before they become worn, soiled or unhygenic
* Healthier - thin designs allow lots of oxygen through to the eye
* Comfortable - thin lenses have thin edges too
* Free replacement of lost / damaged lenses (if on standing order scheme)
* Less hassle for you - cleaning is still necessary (except dailies) but is very quick and straightforward - usually a one-bottle regime
* Your prescription can always be kept bang up-to-date
* You always have spare lenses to hand
* Easier for travelling - more hygenic and less clutter
* Easy to alternate between glasses and lenses
Prices depend on the exact type and prescription of lens required, but as a rough guide:
* Daily disposables from £34.95 (30 pr) - but huge discounts are available for bulk purchases - please ask for latest prices
* Fortnightly disposables from £17.00 / month
* Monthly disposables from just £9.00 / month
Daily disposables are usually purchased on a buy-by-the-boxful scheme, as and when required, so you are not committed to a minimum purchase, you just 'phone a few days before you need more lenses
All other disposables are available either as buy-by-the-boxful, or on a standing order scheme. The standing order scheme is preferable because:
* It allows you to spread the cost of wearing lenses
* Lost or damaged lenses are replaced FREE of charge
* All contact lens checkups (both scheduled and otherwise) are covered free - normally £40.00
* You don't have to worry about re-ordering - we just automatically 'phone you when your next batch of lenses arrives
* It's slightly cheaper than buying by the boxful
Initially (following an eye examination) we need to book you in for a contact lens assessment. This is both to examine the eyes to ensure that you will be suitable for contact lens wear, and to take a few (non-contact !) measurements of the eye
Once this is done, we will normally teach you how to safely insert and remove your lenses, as well as how to clean them (if applicable) and instruct you as to how long you can safely wear them to begin with
Once you can insert and remove your lenses, we will normally give you some lenses (to your prescription) to take home. We then book a follow-up appointment (typically 1 week later) to check the health of the eye, the fit and vision with the lenses, and make any alterations & tweaks required
The Assessment will typically take about an hour, the 1-week follow-up about 20 minutes, and the fee for all this is only £50.00 !
If you would like us to supply your lenses and perform your contact lens checkups, simply book in for a contact lens checkup wearing your current lenses. Please bring with you all details you have of the lenses - packaging, paper records from your previous supplier etc. and we will go on from there
Our fee for a contact lens checkup is £40.00, but if you choose to join one of our lens schemes, future lens checkups will be covered
Current legislation and regulations mean that in order for us to supply contact lenses to you:
* Your contact lens checkups must be up-to-date (ie you must have had a contact lens checkup within the last 12 months)
* Your eye examination must be up-to-date (ie you must have had an eye examination within the last 2 years)
* If you have had these done, but elsewhere, we are required to see proof - a signed copy of your current spectacle prescription and your current contact lens details is sufficient
* Your spectacle prescription and your contact lens prescription are not the same. Your spectacle prescription should be given to you following an eye examination, and details the specification of lenses you require in a pair of glasses. Your contact lens prescription details the make, fitting details, and strength of contact lenses you are currently fitted with. We can happily proceed without these details, but will often need to start from scratch, making the process a slightly lengthier one
* Whoever examined your eyes or fitted your current contact lenses is legally obliged to supply you with a copy of the details if you request them
